Key-less entry lock out

My key broke off in the ignition. The end is in the lock cylinder so it's stuck in the off position. I'm on the road so i pulled the ign switch for engine starting/off. At a rest stop, I left the truck running, took the remote and locked the door with the door switch.

Does anyone have factory key-less entry that works when the engine is running? Than it starting raining

An allen wrench and a coat hanger can get you in . I'm home.

Factory Keyless remotes don't work with IGN on in 95 or 96 trucks.

Re: Key-less entry lock out

Who makes a good keyless entry for the OBS trucks? I haven't seen a stock keyless entry for one yet. I guess around here they either wore out or the former owners lost them.

Thanks, now I can warn a friend.

Lessons of the road: If you travel North in Oct, don't wear shorts! If you get a cell call always pull off the road into a business or store. Police checking you out for stopping on the shoulder get nervous when they see the ignition pulled . Put the hide a key or entry tools in place before you leave--don't count on the remote.
You can get an ign cylinder out in the off posistion without drilling. Drilling is much faster! Once you do, the steering wheel unlocks. A long flat blade screw driver can be used to start and turn Ign off. If there is no need to save the cylinder, a hand tools can get you going without an ign key.

Re: Key-less entry lock out

Been in your shoes, was heading to my lake house, stopped at rest stop put my turbo timer on and forgot to turn the key back, locked the doors but had an external keypad. Truck timer ran out and the truck kept running with door locked making the keypad non usable. Some truckers loaned me some tools and I broke the tab on the rear sliding window, Worst day ever!!!

Re: Key-less entry lock out

I left my keys in the ignition on my old F150 once & of all places Auto Zone. If I had been down at one of the inner city ones I'm sure they would have showed me how to get in! I was mad enough to break out a window, luckly my Ma had a spare key so I called her & had to wait about 45min. But at least I didn't have to break a window. So now I have a system, keys in hand.....then lock the door!
