No juice from the batteries
Driving down the road the engine just shut off like turning the key off. I don't have power to anything. All the fuses are intact. Something is getting power because the driverside battery gets really hot, like hot enough to catch on fire. I disconnected the batteries and towed the truck home.
Yesterday I hooked up the batteries and had power to everything. turned the key to start and I heard a clunk and then the whole truck went dead. no power to anything. 2 or 3 hours later everything came back. Turned the key to start and the starter engaged but was too weak to turn the engine. I pulled the batteries and put them on the charger.
Today I put the batteries back in turned the key to on and had power to everything. turned the key to start and I heard a clunk and then the whole truck was dead and the batteries were getting really hot. I unhooked them and put them back on the charger and pulled the starter hoping that it is the problem. have to wait till tomorrow to get another one. the starter I pulled out is only a year old.
I replaced the solenoid on the fender by the right hand battery and I think I may have the wires wrong. what color wire goes to which side?
since I only get my wife's for 2 hours tomorrow what else may be causing this?
