97 psd idm relay going crazy, randomly dies. Need help!!!!

Its my father in laws truck, cant seem to locate the problem.

So far the time between shut downs is not consistant. Hooked up multiple scanners but there are no codes. The check engine light will come on. But wont pull any code.

97 f350 psd cc lb, banks chip, gauges, and 160 injectors. 332k miles

Changed so far

Cps
Alt
Glow plug relay

Tested hpop checked out fine

Right before it dies it will get a drain on the batteries. Which i think its going to low for the pcm and it shuts down, cant seem to find out where the draw is comming from.

Im at a loss and he wants to sell his truck now.. Any help would be appreciated.

Read hundreds of forums on it, but so far none are helpful. I know every problem can be different.

We have also took out the chip and tried it stock with a no go.

Does it die with a battery charger on it?

IIRC, idm relay clicks when there is key power and the #6 fuse is pulled. (I noticed this after following Bean's instructions during injector change when purging the fuel/oil from the cylinders.) The line that the #6 is on seems to be the one losing power. Why its losing power, I cant say but hopefully this directs the troubleshooting effort.

I DONT KNOW, but maybe his idm killed his pcm. Maybe you could try using your idm and pcm, if your idm ran better, i would think this could be the problem, just a suggestion though
