Unhappy E40D pan question.

I bought a filter kit from napa. Kit # 1-5924 , $48.95 price
This is a reusable gasket filter kit. The gasket is the right shape and every thing , but my pan has raised bolt holes and the gasket will not work.
1. Is my pan different?
2. Do i have the wrong gasket.
3. What should i do?

Re: E40D pan question.

when I bought the pan for My 5r110 the same pan and gasket fit
Quote:
Derale 14208 Transmission Cooling Pan for Ford E4OD, 4R100, 5R110 and5R110W
and the gasket from My year is reusable but was identical to the OEM just cork so I kept the OEM so the supplied Derale gasket should also fit all the years

Whats the issue with the gasket exactly ?

Re: E40D pan question.

go get a Fram from Autozone they are OEM filter suppliers to Ford and have a cork gasket and I think would Be less $$$
I know it doesn't come with a reusable but it fits

or go to the dealer and get a reusable gasket

Re: E40D pan question.

The holes that the trans bolts go through on the pan have a ledge so the steel gasket does not fit around the ledged holes. The gasket does not touch the pan. I will have to get another gasket.

Re: E40D pan question.

It had a cork gasket and yes it was leaking. The only ones i have found are rubber or cork. I will be going to napa in the morning to fix this. It is a blizzard hear hope there open.
