Can someone explain to me the flap in exhaust

Hey guys is the only reason there is the flapper in exhaust just to help warm up the motor? If so is there anyway I can unplug it and leave it open? Do I gotta tie it open? Mine going down the road will close completely and about stall the truck out. It makes motor not have enough power to even get out of its own way while when I try to put ur foot into it to get off
The road just smokes and exhaust temp on myrometer will
Go up to 1100 and barely will move to get off the road. Then shut key off and restart truck then it runs perfectly fine. So I wanna eliminate the flapper and wanna tie it open can u guys full me in what to look for and any tips?

That is your EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) yes it is there to help the truck warm up. You can eliminate it there are a few good examples of how to on this forum. Just search for EBPV delete in the top of the page.

Sensor may be wacked out, and causing the pcm to call for it to close, could be as simple as replacing that sensor.

Where would the sensor be located?

Re: Can someone explain to me the flap in exhaust

Also for now I just disconnected it so I can at least run my truck lol but I'd like to replace the sensor and give it a try. Also on driver side where the wiring harness goes into valve cover there is a wire that has no coating on in that area not sure where it goes I know the wire without coating does not go into the valve cover but its in that area. Not sure what it is or why it has no coating on it but I do wonder what's up with that wire

front of lock, top, toward pass side of the hpop resivoir, its on a steel small tube that traces to the front of the pass side exhaust manifold... And trace that bare wire, where does it come from?

Not sure on the bare wire I am going to try and figure out where it's coming from and how much of costing in it is actually missing

The bare wire is to get rid of EMC/EMI problems with the high voltage DC going through the harness. (leave it there). Cheers!

Re: Can someone explain to me the flap in exhaust

You usually don't notice it unless you've peeled back the VC harness a bit. Unless you're have interference problems or have torn into the harness, I would assume they're still there. Cheers!
