Gas leak 95 F350 7.3

I just drove home and started smelling gas, and when I stopped it was running out from underneath the truck. There is a plate that is covering it. Man it's coming out pretty fast. I'm wondering if there are lines inside that plate.
Thank you,
TD

Well first off you have real problems if you are leaking GAS. Where is this plate located that the fuel is coming out from behind? In the engine valley, under the truck, etc?

If you are talking about the plate that covers the flywheel them you should take a look at your fuel pump. Mine did the same and I found the three lines going to the pump and filter were rotted and had split.

From what I can tell it's under the truck. I looked as well as I could (very dark) and could not find any signs of leakage anywhere else. It's literaly coming out of the plate itself. I just wonder if the plate is for protection or what.

Ok, so the plate covers the flywheel. I will bet it's the lines you are talking about. Do you think I should drive to mechanic about 5 miles away? I have lots of gas...ha. I probably drove it about 8 miles home in total, and didn't notice(smell) until about 5 miles away.

If you are mechanically inclined at all then no I would not take it anywhere to replace three rubber lines and clamps. It is as easy as buying a foot of diesel rated line, unbolting the two 13mm bolts that hold your fuel pump in place, pulling the three hoses you will see between the bowl and pump, cutting new ones to match, install them, and put the fuel bowl back in place.

Hmm....you do have a pretty serious problem if you can smell gas and are leaking gas with a 7.3. Are you sure its not a 7.5 under the hood???
