milage drop

Looking for a little help. Up until this month I have been getting between 18-19 mpg now it's down to 16 mpg and its dropped 1mpg every tank this month. Fuel and air filters were changed when I bought the truck about 9000 miles ago. Oil change is due at the end of the month.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: milage drop

There are so many variables as to what would cause a mpg drop.

Re: milage drop

Where is the FPR and how do you clean it. Now that i have the fuel bowl off my truck, it would be a good time to do it

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seat for OBS. PM me if any known

When you are looking at the front of the fuel bowl you will see the two threaded ports that you had to unscrew two lines from. The side that would be facing the drivers fender is the side with the FPR. It sticks off the side of the bowl. It is held on by two 10mm bolts. Remove the bolts then carefully pull it off the side of the fuel bowl. There is a check ball assembly inside that you don't want to lose the check ball from.

Re: milage drop

I choose to blow high pressure air ( 140 psi) from inside the filterbowl.....when I do fuel filter service... First I remove the Spring/plunger assembly behind the 19 mm nut on the FPR body ...Then I blow it out and re-install the Spring /plunger deal without losing the BB.......

Re: milage drop

Ok, update... I found that the IPR was loose. After tightening it the idle improved but still crappy mileage. Replaced a leaky fuel line and fuel filter no improvement. FPR screen I still havent done because Im a dumb%$$ and forgot while I had it all out.

There was a rusty looking substance in the filter what could that be?? Also can I clean the FPR screen while its in the truck??

Sorry for the long responce. Thanks
