ZF help

my 95 with a 5sp, clutch lets out like it should but unless i shift it slow it chirps going into 2nd and 3rd. downshifting to second i have to be going about 10-15 mph. snycro's?? anyone changed them? seems to shift better when the truck has sat over night or not at operating temp.

Have you ever changed the fluid? Check the bushing on the clutch pedal linkage as well, the clutch may feel like it is working correctly but if that bushing is shot it may not fully disengage the clutch even if the pedal is to the floor.
Pulling the tranny to put syncros in it should be your last resort.

few weeks ago the master cylinder rod so all that is new, just replaced the rod. i know the guy i bought the truck from and he said he changed all the fluid, there was moisture by the fill plug so i believe him. plus the ol girl has 355K on it. it shifts pretty good untill it warms up a bit.

he used atf, but now that you say that i looked and my computer at work says the diesel takes MERCON SYNTHETIC. guess that would be a good place to start.

im sure it prob does, it has a well used goose plate in it so im sure its been worked. the guy i bought it from bought it from a construction company.

I've never done them but I heard they are a pain. Have to do stuff like freeze the bearings and put the case in the oven to get them back together, but like I said I've never done it.
