Shifting problems

Hey guys. New to the forum but not to powerstrokes, but this has got me stumped.

Im looking at purchasing a 95 f250 with the 7.3 and auto 4x4.

I was talking to the girl who owns it and it will not shift if you just put it into drive. You have to manually drop it on the column and then shift up. She says overdrive works and all gears run fine.

Any thoughts what it could be? Need an adjustment? New column? Tranny bad?

Just trying to get an idea before I pull the trigger on the truck

Thanks in advance

Re: Shifting problems

Could be lots of things. First would be to verify with a scanner that can do live data that it is actually in the gear you are selecting. It could be loose shift linkage due to loose torx bolts at the end of the shift tube, shift tube bushings, or stretched shift cable. It could also be a bad MLPS on the side of the trans, or it could be improperly adjusted. You could also have a bad solenoid pack, bad connection due to corroded pins at the connector, or you may not have power to the solenoid pack.
