High beam light and headlights on after shutdown?

Hey Guys riddle me this one?
After extended idle 2 hours or so, shut truck off got out messed about (work stuff) looked back at truck and high beams are on. I look on the dash and switch is in (read light switch off), notice on dash that the high beam indicator is on? Pull headlight switch all the way out then all way in... Highbeam indicator still on. Fire up truck cycle headlight switch shut off engine lights finally go out. Never have ever had this happen, only thing I can think is the extended idle time was not liked by the Day Time Light running modul?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
jrc

Sounds like the DRL module suffered some sort of fault internally that kept the lights on. Has it done this since then or is it a one time event?

So far one time event.

Or the "flash-to-pass" contacts in the column stalk were somehow closed.

This sounds like the most plausible scenario. A problem with the DRL stuff should be low beam only, I think.

Hey Dave, I always thought the DRL where based on 1/4 power running through the Hi beam circuit?
Has not happened since... but will be more attentive when if happens next time.

Re: High beam light and headlights on after shutdown?

The DRL is the high beam circuit and not the low beam circuit. It does operate at a reduced voltage from the normal high beam setting. If the flash to pass contacts were connected then you would have seen the high beams on at full power. That would be the best way to determine if it was the flash to pass or the DRL causing the issue.
