Wierd Idle, Help!

Hey all, my 96 PSD recently started idling wierd. It will turn over and fire up fine then it lugs down and seems like it wants to lope but it doesnt. It just starts then kinda goes wub wub wub wub then the idle goes back up and runs fine. No other issues still runs and drives fine any thoughts? A few people have told me camshaft position sensor. What's y'alls take? Thanks!

as weird as it sounds, i have heard before about, iirc, some sort of neutral switch being a culprit on obs trucks with funny idle. what does it do in neutral?

in neutral its fine. Once the truck is started and running there is no issue it just lugs when it starts then goes right to normal idle.
