Battery charging

I know this is basic but I dont want to mess something up. The key was left on in my 97 Powerstroke for a couple of days. What is the proper way to charge batteries that are in series? I only have one charger. Thanks guys!

Re: Battery charging

Are you sure they are connected in series? They should be connected parallel. Are the + posts connected together? If they are parallel, you make sure all the connections are clean then connect the battery charger + clamp to one of the + battery terminals (it doesn't matter which one) and connect the - clamp to something that is bolted to the engine. Connect them in that order, + battery connection first and - to engine second. When you disconnect them do it in reverse, - from engine first and + from battery last.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.

Re: Battery charging

You are correct, they are parallel. So + battery, then - to engine, then reverse when finished. Thanks!
