exhaust temps.

I've got a 96 f250 7.3 automatic 4wd with a dp tuner chip and guages. I bought camper over the weekend that weighs about 6300lbs. What is a safe exh temp it ran about 1150 to 1200 degrees under a strain but cooled off to about 600 to 900 degress. That is with chip onthe 60hp tow setting. Is that normal? What is the limit b4 melt down thanks for any info

Re: exhaust temps.

Yep, that's about normal for a stock truck.1250 is the limit but short bursts past that are fine, its the holding it past that temp is when things go bad.

Re: exhaust temps.

Pretty much the Standard is 1250 all day.....anything past that is rolling the dice. I have tapped 1450 a couple times but instantly lift.
