Need some opinions

i have no compression in my, im guessing, 8th cylinder.
the mechanic says that it melted a hole in the piston from overfueling and high combustion temps, thats what confuses me cause i didnt know that it could melt down because of that. And just FYI i have baby swamps injectors and im guessing old tony wildman tunes, im not exactly sure because it came on the truck (there are 4 tunes). And i think that the old tuning may be what caused this over time?, just my opinion.
But heres my question, he says it needs rebuilding or a new motor.
Well i know a rebuild kit goes for around 1k not including it being machined for bore size, which he told me costs around 300 bucks? But we found a motor for 1900 bucks with 90k miles and it comes with a year warranty.
So which should i do?
accidently posted this in the super duty sections so i just reposted it here lol

Re: Need some opinions

If the shop is a reputable shop, I'd say get the machine work done and do the rebuild... Will they warranty their work? Getting a used motor would be fine also especially if it's warrantied.
