Ca emmisions glow plug module

Anyone know if I can use a normal glow plug relay to replace the existing module as long as I hook up the wiring the same and use the existing shunt? Also anyone know a definitive way to test the module? I replaced all my glow plugs yesterday checked my wiring and I am still having cold start issues and throwing a code.
Thanks

As I recall, the relay itself is the same. Cali added the shunt module and related wiring to sense glow plug amperage.

Either jump the terminals with a screw driver or test with a multi meter. I replaced my cal truck with stancor years ago. Trouble free

Re: Ca emmisions glow plug module

On one of these forums someone had a set of pictures of the Stancor with the California shunt installed. Just can't find it now, it was within the last month. I imagine without the shunt you would be getting some sort of glow plug failure code since without the shunt it would be the same as no glow plug current sensed.

Here it is:

Stancor with Shunt!!!! This is how to wire it. - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

Yes, the PCM should sense the missing shunt and show a code. I tried to install a switch to control the GPR (as others have done) and it caused a code.
