I think the OP's question is - starting from a ZF5
(rather than an auto), what needs to be changed? Implies several sub-questions:
* Can you use the existing shifter?
* Can you use the existing clutch? (I'd say, who cares? When you've got it apart, install a fresh clutch kit.)
* Can you use the existing flywheel? - Another possible who-cares. If it's on the original dual-mass flywheel, this is the time to swap in a single-mass.
* Can you use the existing pedal and/or hydraulics? (Is a ZF6
* What about the PCM
? - This one's easy; unlike an auto-manual swap, you can use the existing PCM
and don't need to burn anything. The PCM
doesn't interface with the manual tranny at all.
There's surely more (driveshaft, t-case if 4x4
, etc.).... So it's not quite the same as an auto-to-manual swap.
