Missing under fuel

97 f350 5 speed. I have a hard miss that makes it feel like the engine is going to jump out of the truck. It is mostly at lower rpms when you step into it, but is also at higher rpms when on it. It sounds like a click or a crack on the back of the engine from when youre in the cab, but i am not certain. Any Ideas appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Missing under fuel

Can you make it do it with the engine not under load, that is, just revving it up in the driveway, or coasting in neutral? Does it seem to happen when you let up a little on the go-pedal and goose it again? I can't help but wonder, if it's causing that much "turbulence", and you're hearing a lot of noise toward the cab, if it's not the engine at all, but (if so equipped) the dual-mass flywheel coming loose. Is it the original clutch/flywheel? Does it clunk/clatter when you let off the go-pedal, or make any extra noise when you turn off the engine?

Re: Missing under fuel

If you let it idle for a while it will start to have a light miss but nothing like going down the road. Yes it happens most when you let off and stab into it again, but the clutch is a southbend with a
one piece flywheel

Re: Missing under fuel

Messed around with the truck a little bit before work. cleaned out the fuel bowl and changed the filter. Did not make a difference. Truck has a custom burnt TS-6 from TSD. in the tow setting and the 140 setting it does this, but in the smoke setting it will not. Truck has had a fuel leak for a long while now and Im wondering if the loss in pressure may have messed up a spool valve in one of the injectors? Or maybe the solenoid on the injector is sticking upon application? causing the clicking sound i am hearing. Any help is greatly appreciated as I can not get this figured out. It seems like it may be electrical, maybe idm?

Re: Missing under fuel

Does it do it when running stock?

BTW, it's always good to mention mods in the opening post.

Re: Missing under fuel

Since I have had the truck it will not run right with a chip in it.I have not tried it with the chip on stock as it never runs right. Mods are stage ones, d66, hypermax intercooler.

Re: Missing under fuel

take the chip out and see how it runs, its very easy to get a bad connection between chip and pcm that will cause a variety of problems

Re: Missing under fuel

I think the chip is helping to cover up the misfire, is the check engine light on? maybe the wiring is bad to the injectors or burnt wiring under the valve covers.

Re: Missing under fuel

No CEL. Found a fuel leak off the regulator leaking into the fuel bowl pretty bad. Hooked up a guage, 45 at idle. 25 at 3k and it will drop to 0 while reving it, this is all without driving, no load. Sounds like the issue. Have a fuel system from Irate sitting in the garage. Guess I'll start with that since its paid for. Thanks
