'97 straight pipe suction noise on startup?

Me and my buddy cut the cat and muffler out of his '97 single cab yesterday. He was planning to dump it infront of the rear tire but no place around here carries 3.5 inch so he is ordering online. So, for the time being, theres probably about a foot of exhaust after the stock downpipe. He says that when the truck is cold it makes a vacuuming/suction/sucking noise for a few seconds when the truck starts up. He said he had someone look at it and they said it sounded like the vacuum pump?

Not sure if this is coincidence with cutting the exhaust up or what? Just wanted some opinions. I don't think it does it all the time because right after we cut everything out he started it up and it didn't do it then...

The vacuum pump in my super duty went out and the A/C didnt work properly. He said his is working fine.

Also, does anyone know a good site to find 3.5 inch exhaust, connectors, clamps, etc.?

Thanks

Yes, its just the epbv if its coming from the exhaust. Nothing to worry about.

EBPV for sure. I'd say just unplug it B4 the first start up of the day. What i did to mine stright pipe wise was order a 4ft piece of 3.5in pipe from Jegs. I had that next day, cut the flange off the cat, i cut the 90 deg bend off the tailpipe, and took the hanger that was bolted to the cross memeber under my bed off flipped that around and bolted it to the cross memeber under the rear of the cab and welded everything all back together. 25 bucks is all it cost me.
