96 leaking diesel

Was working today and smelt diesel turned my truck on and noticed it was dripping fuel but not too bad so i decided to finish up and head home. well lets just say i drove 40 miles home and it started to leak alot by the time i got home i had gone through half a tank. I couldnt tell were it was coming from but its dripping down the pass side of the motor and there is fuel in the valley of the motor too. Any help would be appreciated tomorrow is my only day off n i need the truck running for work monday.

Re: 96 leaking diesel

It could be several things, a hose, the pump itself or like it was in my case the sensor on the fuel bowl.

You'll need to start looking around in the valley to see.

No, climb up and clean out the valley of the motor, then have some one start it so you can carefully look around in the valley for where the fuel is coming from.

Re: 96 leaking diesel

ok just went to start it and try to find out were its coming from. I took the Y fitting off of the turbo and intakes and accidently started it up with that off. so i hurried up and shut it off put the Y back on and fired it up again. ran good at first then started to act like it wasnt getting any fuel then died. now she cranks but wont fire.

Re: 96 leaking diesel

Check your fuel bowl, see if its full of fuel. Like rob says have someone start it up and watch in the valley, you probably will need a air hose to dry it up first

Re: 96 leaking diesel

Fuel pump is prolly dead, your fuel was prolly coming out of the weap hole.

Either that of you had a feel line come off the fuel bowl.

There is not pump in the tank only the one that would be located under the Y you removed in the valley.
