97 Automatic Transmission Leak

My transmission is leaking fluid out of the inspection cover between the engine and transmission. It only has 111,xxx miles on it.

Any ideas what that might be? I was thinking it was the front seal, but have no clue. I haven't had a chance to pull the cover yet as it just started leaking.

Any help would be great.

Re: 97 Automatic Transmission Leak

Does it leak all the time or just when it gets hot? Mine leaks past the front seal when it gets above 175 degrees. There is an updated seal that is made of Viton. I had my tranny out last year and am kicking myself for not replacing it.

Re: 97 Automatic Transmission Leak

It doesn't leak when it is normal driving, just when it gets up around 180*.

I am adding a 26,000# GVW cooler to my transmission lines this week.
