Fuel Filter Lights

Where does the fuel filter light get its pressure reading from? I had some fuel issues (some sort of wax or crystaline build up) and I thought my fuel filter was plugged (only in 100 miles) My wife was driving and ran it until it completely died on the side of the highway. I brought a new one, put it in and still no fire.

Local shop said they were not getting any fuel pressure from the fuel pump.

Is it likely that went bad or is more likely that my tank screen clogged up?

I'm thinking pump most likely as I have 3 tanks and even when switchign to all three I still get nothing.

I will be dropping the tanks and cleaning them out anyway.

So yeah....Just wondering how that fuel filter light works and where it gets teh readings from.

Re: Fuel Filter Lights

I should have trusted my intuition. The shop were retards and it wasn't a fuel pump. Luckily I did it myself in 45 minutes instead of the 6.5 hours they were going to charge me. Of course I'm sure they would have said it was bad when they were done and that didn't fix the problem. This is why I always do work myself. Wish I could have gone to E-fuel right now but will have two new mechanical pumps in the near future for someone

It turned out to be my FPR screen was completely clogged. Cleaned it off, bled the air out of the schrader valve and I was good to go. Tanks were clean as well. Turned out my wife had flipped to the WMO tank in my truck and back off without telling me. Found a rip in my filter bag thus had some contaminated fuel in my 3rd tank.

Also think I found out where the sensor was as well. I beleive it is hanging right there off of the FPR.
