Steering has me stumped

After work my steering was perfectly fine for about 10 miles. Of course as i came up to a busy traffic circle my steering got extremely stiff and i had to man handle it to barely make it around the circle. once clear of the circle I tried turning right into a parking lot but the wheel turned just enough to coast me towards the shoulder. I rubbed the curb and heard a pop/ clank and suddenly had partial steering. i managed to get into a parking lot.

I checked...

power steering fluid, lines, and hoses. all good. ball joints all good. tie rods axles and any steering linkage. all good.

After me turning the wheel back and forth 28374687236 times in the lot i took it around the lot and everything seemed ok. i limped it most of the way home and then it started to pull and stick when making right turns or going around bends to the right. i finally managed to get the truck home and im stumped

Do you have any power steering leaks? What about noises kinda sounds like your steering box grendaded.

How big of a pita is the steering box to change? Are there any ways to test it and be sure?

Look at your u joints on the front axle.I had a truck the joints looked good but after pulling the axle out found the joint was seized up.It was making the truck hard to turn and would not return very good.

Brad claims the F350's all the way down to the Rangers are the same box if you're going hunting?

Doesn't roll with anyone or tag along to be cool...
