trans swap questions

Got a guy has a cclb 94 turbo idi wants to trade me his e40d for my zf5. Of course all related components will be traded. Is his e40d the same as the one behind a psd? Also can him and i trade gauge clusters and columns? I know i would need an auto pcm. How about the trans harnesses? Will the manual trans harness hook up to his truck and will his auto harness hook to my truck?

Re: trans swap questions

Guages and clusters at least the tach is different the rest I don't know ...As far as I know, the IDI trans is different..I know for a fact that the TC is different... IDI only has 4 bolts on TC....PSD has 6 ..... Internally I have no idea but I doubt it...the IDI also has a PCM to control the trans ...so you would need a PCM from an Auto truck similar to yours for the trans to work...

Re: trans swap questions

Im not worried about on my end right now as my truck is in a million pieces. I just want to get the auto and everything for it including cluster and column and give him all my manual stuff. I can make adjustments on my side when the time comes for it to go in. I just want him to get what he needs and be happy. Eventually the auto will be a core for a bts for me

Re: trans swap questions

Confirm the flywheel mounting, earlier ones had 9 smaller bolts, my '97 has 10 larger ones plus "dowel / roll pin"
If that deal doesn't work out I might be able to help you out.
