Th wastegates are on the 99 and up Superdutys ..First gen trucks control boost by de-fueling electronically by the PCM and the various sensors

Re: turbo blow off valve? wastegate?

Blow off valves are needed on gassers because they have a throttle plate that closes, blocking airflow, so you need to loose that boost.

OBS do not defuel like the SD trucks do... With a OBS you would be hard pressed to overboost one... 1.15 exhaust housing and 90cc injectors mean 17-22# boost MAX.

Even if you have a chip or tuner? My truck can run up to about 32psi. I've been wondering if the previous owner did anything other then the tuner.

CSIPSD's numbers were for a stock truck.. You can hit high 20's to 30ish with a tuner...

He is correct though, OBS trucks do not defuel at a certain boost pressure.
