Re: slight blue smoke from a 7.3 powerstroke

The slight blue haze during warm-up is understandable. When these trucks are cold the timing is advanced to allow for a little more fuel, and that blue smoke is just some unburnt fuel. Pretty much any diesel I have seen has a slight blue haze during warm-up. As far as when you rev it, it may have one or two injectors that are getting worn out. Does it start hard when its cold? Cause that could signal an injector or two are bad.

Re: slight blue smoke from a 7.3 powerstroke

yea gotta cycle the glow plugs a few times and if i just do it once it'll blow a big cloud of white smoke however i did change my fuel filter and it brought down my fuel pressure so im assuming that the other was dirty and plugged

Speaking of fuel pressure what psi did you see. The little bit of blue is normal. How cold is it when you have to cycle the gp's a few times? Could have a bad relay.

Re: slight blue smoke from a 7.3 powerstroke

its boucning around 45 psi goes up to 50 when i give it throttle use to be at 60 when the fuel filter was clogged and if its all warmed up and i give it a rev it blows blue or if im driving and get on it hard in say second or 3rd gear id say 40's i live in portland oregon i usually cycle em twice however with the chip in it makes the glow plug light hardly stay on also checked the blow by and it seemed to be puffin out more than im use to seeing but idk maybe i should make a video and put that up?

Fuel pressure is fine...

Sounds like you might have some glow plugs out or a bad GPR...

The blue haze could be injector o-rings. Was the fuel filter oil when you replaced it?

Re: slight blue smoke from a 7.3 powerstroke

I have this issue too. When i'm running the truck in tune and i get on it i see some type of white or blue haze with the black smoke. Truck runs fine with no issues. My injectors are stock with 218,000. Injector time maybe?

Re: slight blue smoke from a 7.3 powerstroke

I was told from the last owner that they had been "serviced". Whatever the hell that means. I have recipes dating back to 97 of everything that has been done to my truck and there's nothing in there about serviced injectors.
