Is there a "mileage range" where the ODO tends to go out?

Im in the market for an OBS, I found one that already has the D60 swap, exhaust, lift, intake and such all for 5600 cash...

However the ODO is broken, and when he bought the truck 2 years ago it didnt work then either. I've researched how to fix the odo, that seems simple enough I just don't want to buy a 400,000+ mile truck.

So, my question is if there is any mileage range where they tend to stop reading.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Sorry, I meant to have said as it goes blank. Like the other fords of thus year range.

The typical remedy is to check the solder on the back?
