truck won't start...

No matter how many times I turn it truck won't start in weather under 50.
Glow plugs?
Anyone know how to check for proper voltage on glow plugs?
Thanks

Re: truck won't start...

Use a multimeter at the UVCH plugs... Two per bank. Two outside pins are glow plugs. A good glow plug will read between 0.8 - 1.2 ohms a weak glow plug will have much less resistance, and a completely dead one will have unlimited resistance through it because the electrode is internally burned out.

Also, test the relay.

That's weird that it doesn't start you should be able to start it at 50 without gp. I've started trucks in the 30's with bad or no glow plugs. id check the glow plugs and relay anyway though

No white smoke is just incomplete combustion so it shows you're getting fuel.

Re: truck won't start...

This happened to me. It's normal. Cept the 50* part. Mine wouldn't start below 35-40 and it was the siliniod. Mine would start after about 10 tries though.
