97 rough idle and no power

hey guys as the title says i have a 1997 powerstroke that has been running perfect untill today on my lunch break i went to start it, everything was normal untill 45 seconds in the idle went to crap and the truck died, i was able to get it started and limped it home, with no power...couldnt get over 10mph.... the truck will start but the idle sounds horrible, like its missing or running on 5 cylinders or the combustion in the cylinders is going on at the wrong time.... this was completly out of the blue and havent had any problems untill now... any thoughts please?

thanks fellas

He moved it cause you weren't stuck on the side of road, which is what the 911 Roadside Emergencies section is for.

Its on the front of your engine. Easiest way is to lay on the ground and look up. It's right close to the water pump, two or three wires going in to a clip with one bolt holding it on. It's around thirty to forty bucks. Make sure to wet the o ring with oil before instalation I tore the o ring once and was not happy.

Re: 97 rough idle and no power

so i replaced the cam sensor....nothing changed there is what i think to be mist or smoke thats fuel (doesnt smell electrical) from the back of the engine after cranking for a minute or 2....also i noticed a gergling noise from my fuel tank? never herd that before... any chance this could be bad diesel?
what to check/replace now.... thanks again
