94 Fell on its face

My boss sold his OBS 7.3 to a kid around town, we constantly see him beating the living sh*t out of it, ripping past the shop, he has virtually no knowledge of diesels, and is always coming in to bug us why its running weird or not running at all, its been in and out of our shop constantly. Heres my question, its been rolling small amounts of blue smoke at idle, which prob leads to injectors, but the other day he had it towed to the shop saying it barrelled out black smoke and fell on its face, it will start but then will stall. any ideas? im clueless with these older engines

Re: 94 Fell on its face

My giess would also be fuel pump. See if you can check the pressure while cranking and if it runs, at WOT. Another thing you might try is electrically disconnecting the MAP sensor and see how it runs on the default table values. Cheers!

Re: 94 Fell on its face

Fuel pump is a possibility, i have to check that, it has a new cam position sensor and all of the fuses are good along with the hours i spent tracing wires. Could a tip have broken off an injector? is that a possibility with these older models?

Re: 94 Fell on its face

So after a lil testing, i see that it keeps blowing a certain 40amp fuse, now i just forgot what is was for but its a 1994 1/2 i believe, took it for a spin and drives normal, minus the light haze from the stack. IDK what happened, or how it fixed itself but im to the point where i should tell the kid to just sell it and get something newer.
