Running board courtsey lights

I have a 2000 f-250 crew cab and i am looking to install running board courtsey lights that only come on when the door is open. My question is where do i tap into for power?

Re: Running board courtsey lights

You want to tap onto the Door Trigger Wire. On your truck it is a Black wire with a thin blue stripe. It can be found in a 40 pin plug on the firewall behind the Drivers Dash. This wire will only show 12 volts when any of the door are opened. Use a test light to verify the wire.
