2003 door sensor problem

My dad has a 2003 6oh and he says when he turns the truck off the dome lights stay on for what he says is 30 minutes. When he turns the truck on they stay on until he gets up to 15 mph. Any idea what is making it do this?

I know its not "Aftermarket" its the only thread for SD isnt it?

Re: 2003 door sensor problem

Technical would have been more appropriate but this will do. My truck had the same problem truth is I don't know what fixed it but it stopped when I fixed my door locks! Lol but I've heard people wd 40 the door switches (switch door contacts when closed) and also the bar at the front of door that keeps it from flying open. Hope this helps.....

Re: 2003 door sensor problem

try spraying some WD-40 in the door latch sometimes the door ajar switch will stick. Spray the WD in and open and close the door about a dozen times to get it moving. If that doesnt work pull out the door latch and install new door ajar switch.

Not to sound like an a$$ but just to make shure. Is the dome light switch turned off on the dash and working properly?

Re: 2003 door sensor problem

The switch is intergrated with the strike plate on the inside of the door, I had the same problem after I washed the truck one time, I tried lubing the strike plate up well with Gibbs Lube and it cured the problem..

I would imagine though the lights wouldnt turn off if the switch was on.
