Little slots?

What are the little slots to the right of the steering wheel for?

... I have always woundered what they were for too... didnt have them on the 99-2000, started in the 2001...

Isnt the speaker for the reverse sensors behind it?

EATC, auto air conditioner interior temp. sensor, I'm pretty sure. My crown vic had little slots cut in the dash for a temp sensor for the EATC.

Well I was just under the dash of my buddy's excursion replacing a fuse, and there is a white tube about 3/4 maybe 1" in diameter leading to the slots. It takes off toward the passenger side, once it gets behind the part of the dash where the radio is I can't tell where it goes from there.
