Re: SCT question

Some of the older models won't do it... I don't remember the version/model number though...

If it's one of the newer tuners that gives codes and data it should work in your truck.

Re: SCT question

As far as I know they can. I haven't personally tried it though, nor asked any of the big SCT experts, but I am planning on at least trying it when I get mine.

I talked to this guy a bit about his data logging and OBD ii scanning with his Xcal 2. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1178885-post1.html

He told me that after a week or so of running it the car would start to act funky and the tuner would start to get a bit laggy. He seemed to be only running it to display gauges. My best guess to his operating issues was the tuner was getting clogged up with data by saving everything it had logged and this is what was giving him trouble, but I am not 100% sure. I'm hoping the Xcal3 is better, and will work for this sort of setup better than the Xcal2 will. I don't think he uses his continuously any more. He also said that he solved the running issues by simply unplugging the tuner, so didn't seem like anything serious happened, but again I don't think I would want to risk turning my truck into a 8,000lb paper weight or kill the tuner and need a new one just to get the truck back to stock and drivable.
