Cab lights

So who on here has added cab lights to their truck? The thought of cutting holes in my roof scares me a little, to say the least. I'd like to hear from some people who have done it on how diffucult it was and how they figured out where the holes go. Maybe I'll have a shop do it so that if it leaks they can buy my new headliner, lol.

Here's another good reference. I did mine as well and followed these directions....worked flawlessly!! Took 3 hours measuring 3 to 4 times before adding the holes.

Re: Cab lights

I did mine, no big deal really. I used a step drill instead of the knock-out tool and silicone was my friend that day

Re: Cab lights

I'll say if your good at wireing stuff up (off road lights, gauges & the like) then cab lights aren't that hard. I helped my buddy mount some on his truck & like Ben said, a drill & silicone. On nice thing about doing them yourself on a Superduty is that you can evenly space them apart instead of doing the 1-3-1 like the factory lights are. I think he got all 5 factory style but smoked out (can't remember the brand) with everything for about $45+ if I can remember right.
Here's what the smoked out ones look like at night, this was the best that my camera would do...

Re: Cab lights

I got mine through Ford ford $50 and put them on in around two hours. The factory lights plug into a harness behind the kick panel under the glovebox. I masked off the roof and measured them out about five times until I found the sweet spot. I also siliconed the lights before mounting them. Most of the work is in removal of the head liner and trim.

You mean there is a harness on the passenger side just for the lights?

I'm not too sure if there is a harness hiding in there for us OBS drivers, I think it is only the Super Duty's.

I'd like to hear in either case, lucky for me my 93 came with them.
Another one of my friends just got a Superduty & want's to add cab lights too. If there is a harness it would save alot of work & make life easier.
