Warn Hub rattle fix

Finally fixed the annoying rattle from my hubs. I ordered the Warn service kit #11714. The kit comes with a large outer o ring, New allen bolts, the large spiral retaining ring and the small axle shaft snap ring. I Took the 6 allen bolts out and the outer hub off. I removed the big o ring from the hub and put the new o ring on it and set it off to the side. On to the inner parts. I pushed the inner hub all the way in. I then pushed the spiral lock all the way in. Taking the old big o ring i placed it into the slot next to the spiral lock. Then take the new spiral lock and install it into the slot. You might have to push with a screwdriver to get everything to fit. Now reinstall the outer hub and tighten the allens. This will cause the hubs to have no play and will eliminate the rattle.

Re: Warn Hub rattle fix

sounds just like a bad sway bar bushing. It rattles over pavement cracks and small bumps.

Re: Warn Hub rattle fix

If it was a loose warn hub you can jump out and grab it and jiggle it by hand.... no pun intended. if you got grinding, jack the truck up and take a pry bar under each tire to check wheel bearings.

Re: Warn Hub rattle fix

I found mine by jacking up the front end and hitting the tire with a sledge.

Re: Warn Hub rattle fix

i jacked ip up and spun the tire by hand, no noise. would it only do it when the trucks weight was sitting on it?

Re: Warn Hub rattle fix

While the truck is just off the ground on the jack. Stick a long bar under the tire and gently lift up. Is there any movement??? If so you may have a bad bearing.
