Tire choices

Trying to decide on a tire now that i have lowered my Ex. I can only go as big as a 37 to be legal here and i am trying to choose a tire. I really like the Swamper Truxus MT as the sidewall and tread really stand out. I am also considering the new MTR Kevlar. I guess my last choice would be a Toyo MT as everyon seems to be running them.

Re: Tire choices

I really have no idea what that was all about, but my iPhone won't let me edit it. Have you considered any of the pro-comp tires? My first set of xtreme a/t's I got 43k miles out of them, and the front two still had good tread, the backs wore funny (my fault, I ran 70psi in them towing my big heavy trailer, about 7k miles and I couldn't correct the pattern that started). I'm running their 33's now and love them, aggressive looking but smooth and quiet. Just food for thought, while you're looking.

Re: Tire choices

I have some MT/R Kevlars on my Tacoma and like them. They've only been on for 1,000 miles or so though.

Re: Tire choices

Dont know if the cooper STT's are too similar to the toyos for you but im very happy with them on my ex and they're decently priced. m-16's look sweet too i think.

Re: Tire choices

my kevlar mtrs cupped after 7k without rotating them. that's a bit soft on a jeep grand cherokee. so now I am rotating them every 1k to try and get them back to normal.

I would not recommend

Re: Tire choices

Having run Super Swampers, ProComp XTerrains, and now Toyo MTs, the Toyos are far and away my favorite. I don't consider them overly aggressive and they have great street manners.
Now, I have heard good things about the Kevlar MTRs (outside of Mickey, above). Also, heard good things about the Swamper M16s, but I have no actual experience with them.

Re: Tire choices

Well i test fit a couple of tires sizes this weekend and it looks like i am going with the Toyo's I can get a 38 to fit. Now the question is 38x 13.5 or 38x15.5??
the wheels i am considering are 9" so i am leaning towards the 13.5

Re: Tire choices

with the 9" wide you are definatly going to want the 13.5's....even with the 10" wide wheels there is a fair bit of sidewall flex with my 15.5's

Re: Tire choices

That's what i was thinking. Sucks no one makes and wide wheels in anything other than a 20 or bigger.
Now do i wait for the new BMF's or do i do a Fuel Hostage in a 18????
Decisions, decisions.
