utility body ease?

work truck lists for way less then reg trucks round me. as in utility bodys instead of pickup beds. how hard would it be to remove the utility bed n bolt on a regular bed? what would i look at to pay for a bed? could buy a 2001 f350 reg cab 4wd with an utility bed white with 199000 for $3800 but for same truck with a bed they're going for 7-12g round here...

I dont know this for sure, but I would figure that most utility bodies would be a bolt-on affair. I would also ASSume that the frame rails would retain the mounts for the factory bed. Depending on condition, your're looking at 1000-1500+ for a bed. Make sure that you get bed bolts, taillights, etc. for your conversion.

If you dont mind the work, and everything just bolts together, I don't think its a bad idea, other than most work trucks - unless records show otherwise - are usually not taken care of in the greatest fashion. Just make a good point of checking the truck out fine, and you should be in good shape.

You need to check the frame. If it was built as a cab-chassie the rails will be flat and a standared bed wont fit. But if it originaly had a bed on it the frame curves over the rear you can swap back.

Re: utility body ease?

You could always put a flatbed on it.
