7.3 needs muffler

Went to try and get a new sticker for my truck yesterday from a guy I figured wouldn't give me any problems passing it. Nope. Gotta have a muffler.

What company makes a good free flowing one? Just lookin for a plain ole aluminized one, don't need that fancy stainless stuff. I'm runnin a 5" system.

I hate to put a muffler on there, there goes all my turbo whistle but I don't wanna continually be hassled by it everytime I need an inspection.
Thanks guys

Re: 7.3 needs muffler

I'm partial to my straight pipe and don't really wanna put a muffler on it. I'm thinkin bout findin a junky 6" muffler, slidin it over the pipe and clamp it down where it looks like I have a muffler.

I know the guy real well, all he'll do is take a glance to make sure theres one there. He won't get down and inspect it

Re: 7.3 needs muffler

I thought the turbo WAS the muffler as in you don't have to have one?

They don't check us in SC. But for emissions........ :shrug

Re: 7.3 needs muffler

I've never had a problem passing an inspection...usually done and new sticker within 10 mins..I go an 18 wheeler mechanic that does inspections and will pass a straight pipe all day long.

They didn't even look under my truck or open the hood when they did my inspection.

Re: 7.3 needs muffler

Here in Az we have an emissions test and no muffer will pass @ the inspection stations. They check for the cat if required, but just a visual. I gutted mine and ran the 4" pipe through it and welded it up and it passes every year.
