Tire Questions

I'm going back to stock wheel for a bit while the new motor is being built. I want to find the widest A/T tire that can be mount on stock 99 wheels. I want a good tire that will last a while and wear good. I was looking at ProComps A/T in 305/70/16. Anyone else know of a good brand thats wider?

On edit: I just found MT ATZ 375/55/16...? would that fit on stock wheels, seems kinda wide for the wheels.

Re: Tire Questions

ProComps IMO have a softer rubber compound. Great off-road tire but not best wearing tire for street. Look at BFG At.....great wearing tire but pricey!
Toyo has a nice tire also. Hope this helps.

Re: Tire Questions

I was gonna say check out the MT ATZ.....I think 15.5 would be pushing it.....The biggest Id go on stock rims is a 12.5-13 Your rim is only 8" wide
You could put it on there but you would have alot of buldge

Re: Tire Questions

The general rule is that you don't want to put on tires that are more than 4 inches (sidewall) wider than your wheel. I'm curious. Are your stock wheels 8 inches wide? The ones on my 06 were 7.5".

outside dimension is 8 inch lip to lip but, inside dimension is 7.5, rim is stamped 8 inch. is that the same as yours?

Re: Tire Questions

99-04 16s were 16x7
04 HDs had 18x8

05-07 are 17x7.5, 18x8 and 20x8

That being said....a 375mm is waaaaayyyy too wide for a 16x7 wheel.

Based on tire rec. specs...a 285 is about as wide as you want to go on a 7" wide wheel
Some guys do go 295 or 305 without issue though.

Re: Tire Questions

I ran 315/75/16 for about 2 year without an issuse. So if I want to go up to 375/55/16 I need a wider wheel right?

Re: Tire Questions

Yes, you need a 10" wide wheel for that at least.

375mm= ~14.76" wide.
