Tail gate spring adjustment

I just put a 2010 bed on my truck. Had to pull the tailgate. The torsion spring (that I had no clue was there), came undone.

Anybody know how to retension this spring?

Crap.

On the new one. The old one has no spring.

Re: Tail gate spring adjustment

Hmm. The 08 tailgate I had (which should be the same as yours) didnt have any kind of spring. Is that to make it easier to close?

Re: Tail gate spring adjustment

Yep. It is a torsion spring inside the tailgate. Makes it feel lighter. Kinda goes along with the old man step on the tailgate.

They needed to design a couple of cup holders in the tailgate while they were at it.
