99 f250... what to do?

Just bought a 99 F250 160000 7.3 manufacture date November 98, 160k miles, one owner $7,000; thought it was a good deal. Need to know what to look for or to check on... What to do to make it a bad boy. I'm very new to the diesel world, forgive the nubie, I'm just looking for advice

okay so is it 2wd or 4wd?
What are you going to use this truck for?
Sounds like a good deal! and it sounds like an Early 99, they are slightly different then the later 99 trucks, smaller turbo and some other odds and ends

First thing I would do is check the condition of the trans fluid
check over the 7.3 see if there are any leaks oil, fuel, air (boost)
Where to go next depends on what you are gonna use it for? Show truck? Daily hauler? Mud princess, street queen, work horse, tow pig.....etc etc

Re: 99 f250... what to do?

Ah ya unfortunately its not 4x which obviously sucks but i thought it was still a good deal. Its a daily work truck for now (highway driving) and will be pulling a 5th wheel all across Florida for the next couple months. No leaks that i know of although i dont know how to check for an air (boost) leak. Figured id have the transmission flushed, change the standard various filters. My thing is that i dont know anyone if florida and dont know where to take it and wouldnt know if would be mechanics were blowing smoke up my ass.
