Cab swap

I have an 03 super cab. The cab corners and inner rockers are getting bad.
Instead of screwing around with sheet metal I have considered doing a cab swap.
Has anyone attempted to put a newer model cab on an older frame? I have been tossing around the idea of doing a conversion on the front end anyway, what's the possibility of just starting with a newer cab so the front sheet metal, fenders hood etc bolt right on.

Re: Cab swap

why stop there? swap the dash and interior too
Converting the newer model dash to work with your 03 will be the trick, but yes its being done

Re: Cab swap

That's going to depend on what is available when I'm ready to do this and the money difference between a bare cab and a groomed cab.

Re: Cab swap

i have never seen a salvage yard sell anything but a stripped cab. and i mean STRIPPED, they do not even come with the VIN plate. you have to use your VIN plate.

owner of almost to many fords.

If you want the moral high ground, make sure you're not standing on a hill of horsecrap.

Re: Cab swap

Depends. There is a yard about an hour away from me that does just ford stuff. He told me to come down and look around this weekend. They have a couple trucks that they have not taken apart yet.
