Exhaust turndown

Hi all. My 2001 7.3 has a 4" straight piped in front of the wheel. Was that way when I bought it. It's pretty loud (I live in suburbia). Current has a 6"tip on it. I'd love to add a muffler, and take it behind the wheel, but there are lots of "higher priority" mods on my list. If I were to remove the 6" tip and replace it with a 4" turn down, how much would it help?

Re: Exhaust turndown

Imo, it won't make a difference. If anything, a turn down will make it bounce off the ground vs the 6" tip bouncing off buildings.
Get a walker "BTM" (big truck muffler) for now.
