spare tire socket

does anyone know a way to remove the spare tire without going to ford and getting the socket??

Long 1/2" drive extension, turn it around. Use 1/2" wrench on end - well, works on my 99-1/2 anyway.

You can pull the black plastic tube that leads to it off. Then you can accesss the locking portion of the winch and remove it. Prybar/screwdriver and it basically pops out . Just held in with a spring clip. Just did mine, but I had the spare down when I did.

Yea I forgot you can just pull out the lock cylinder and down it comes!
