Estimated Value

Just looking for an idea of what you guys think my truck is worth. It burned down. Insurance only wanted to give me $9200. I'd like your guys opinions and hopefully get a little more out of the insurance company.

The truck is:
1999.5 F-350 7.3 6 speed 4x4
180xxx miles
PW PL Power Mirrors Cruise
Side steps Off Road Package Towing Package
Cloth interior with buckets and center console
Alloy wheels
Lets just say average condition.

KBB I was getting 10-11K

Any help would be awesome

Thanks

Re: Estimated Value

It burned down? Meaning caught on fire and burned? If that's the case, take the $9200 and run your arse off before they change their mind. If KBB shows 10-11 average, don't expect insurance to go any higher than about where they are.

Re: Estimated Value

I would find comparable trucks on craigslist and dealer ads local to you, and then come up with an average. Around here KBB isn't worth wiping your arse with. They are usually way low for our area, especially on 7.3 trucks and pre-emission diesels of other brands.

Re: Estimated Value

Are they using nada or what to determine the value? If say the truck is worth anywhere from 8-11k depending on condition

Re: Estimated Value

Yes it caught fire and burned. They say they found "comparables" a couple which included quad cab duallies. Which I didn't have. For $9200 I can't replace that truck in my area. Out of 10 trucks I found and average of $13500 with mileage ranging from 124k-230k. All extended cabs. All 7.3s. All 4x4. Mostly F250s but a couple F350s and a few manuals with most of them being automatics. I gave them this info and they weren't happy. They wanted more. I'm dropping them as soon as I get my check. All my buddies have had awesome luck with Farm Bureau think I'm gonna check them out.

Re: Estimated Value

Insurance won't buy you a new truck, or give you what lots are asking for used ones. 9-10 times used prices are more than what the vehicle is actually worth. If book is 10-11, and they offered you $9200, I don't see why you want to fuss. The most they'd even try to give would be 10...good luck haggling them out of $800 more.

Re: Estimated Value

I would stick with your argument if you are not satisfied or you believe your truck was more valuable. All it takes is talking to the right person one time. I had PGA insurance paint the entire body of a dodge 3500 one time over a slight fender bender.

Re: Estimated Value

6Speed, what people are asking is what I have to pay for a new one. Insurance said they would pay to replace the truck. Its almost the same as selling a truck, if you are asking 12-15k and get offered 9200, you're not gonna be happy. Plain and simple. Same with me. I want to be able to replace my truck, not drop another 3-4k to get the truck I had before. I'll keep on fighting. I'll go to the MO insurance board if i have too.
