high beam headlights

I have a 1990 250 7.3 L IDI diesel. After driving about 30 miles with the high beam headlights on the headlight switch gets hot and the high beams blink on and off. Has anybody had this problem before?

Re: high beam headlights

Need to post this down in the forums below for the older models but on my '80-'86 styles the light switch would go bad and heat up causing issues similar to this.

Re: high beam headlights

Do you have stock bulbs in the headlights? If so, AK1 sounds like he has the cure for you.

Re: high beam headlights

Headlight harness is your friend. Build one with 2 realys or buy one pre-made. You basically cut the wires from the headlight switch near the headlights and insert a 40amp relay so the power does not go through the headlight switch.
