Re: air horns

I did Google them I thought he might have dealt with a specific vendor.

Is their a way to control the volume that the horn puts out?

Is their a slightly quieter air horn like semi trucks use, so it would be more street friendly?

thanks,
Andrew

Re: air horns

This is the one I have: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hammer-3-Train-H...QQcmdZViewItem

I know I am going to get $hit for having this set of horns but it was a gift for my birthday from my wife. If I am around guys that know me want me to hit the horn for them. I actually wanted it for the fans at the pulls. When I started looking for a set of Nathen P3 I could not believe the cost.

Street friendly Hell......I like to see people freak out when I hit the horn because they are being a dumb ass. If you want truck horns get truck horns. They are not as loud but I like the obnoxious loud horns.

I use a solenoid. I did not want to have to run hoses in the cab then out of the cab after going through a manual valve.

Re: air horns

On edit here is what I found out about horns per CVC

Quote:
"27000. (a) A motor vehicle, when operated upon a highway, shall be equipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than 200 feet, but no horn shall emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound. An authorized emergency vehicle may be equipped with, and use in conjunction with the siren on that vehicle, an air horn that emits sounds that do not comply with the requirements of this section.?
That is pretty vague. To me an air horn is not a harsh sound
