05-07 mirrors on 2002. defrost help

i am going tomorrow night to pick up a set of lighted "6.0" mirrors. i am curious of the best way to wire the lights and the defrost. the lights i could probably figure out, but the defrost wonders me. i dont have heated mirrors now and want them bad, but would like to hook them up like they are factory not on a switch or anything.....i have searched a little and not really found what im after. thanks in advance

i wonder if you can put them on a thermostat or some thing. when there stock they are on all the time even in the summer and when it rains some times it leaves little marks all over the glass when it dries the water. just a thought

ok thats whats i was wondering how they are controlled but if they are normally on all the time that would be fine to me...the lines are just from the water and can be cleaned off? i think i have seen the lines on others but never really thought much of it or what caused it

also i have thot that maybe it could be hooked in the defrost controls...that way it would atleast keep them from being on in the summer

Re: 05-07 mirrors on 2002. defrost help

I added heated mirrors to my 1999 last year. I picked up power from the power window and installed 37 degree thermostats in the mirrors. I have since taken the thermostats out because the morning dew would not burn off the mirrors. If you used 60-70 degree thermostats it might work ok. I just decided to leave them on and not worry about it.
I have not had any problems using the hot and ground from the windows.

Re: 05-07 mirrors on 2002. defrost help

I have a 2002 and I ran the running lights to the back of the factory headlight switch I believe its the brown wire and the blinkers I ran to the blinker wires in the steering column if that helps. If I remember correctly the wires in the column for the blinkers are blue/white and green/white. Then I just grounded the wiring on my door. I didn't run the heater option, I don't see a need for it in Arizona.
