ATX Teflon Wheels

What's the deal with these things?

What color are they supposed to be? They are listed as black by ATX and 3rd party vendor sites but in real life pictures they always seem greyish to me. I've even seen pics where they look dark black in one shot, and grey in another. Are these wheels like mood rings where they change colors depending on the owner's mood or something?

It's not a huge deal as my truck is dark grey so they should look decent no matter which color they turn out.

Are there any advantages to having a teflon coat? I'd imagine they are easy to clean. I've heard from some that they can scratch easily and from others they are more resistant and hold up well in off road conditions.
