Re: Fluidampr install

I don't know about the melling pump. But the dampener is not that hard. You need to take the belt, fan and shroud off. The use a dampener puller and pull it off. Put the new one on with a dampener installer. Napa wanted $165 for the tool. Auto Zone wanted $35 for the tool to buy or borrow then get your money back. It took me 2 hours and 6 beers to install mine. The hardest part was getting the shroud out without draining any coolant or taking any hoses off.

Its alittle hard to get the fan off the bitch is usally on very tight, mine took 2 people to get it off. Also u have to tq the fluidampr to 200lbs, 1 person has to stop the engine from turning why'll 1 tqs the fluidampr. Smoothed my engine big time, revs quicker too, worth doing.

Re: Fluidampr install

I have done it by leaving it in gear and have someone apply the brakes. But that is for a manual trans.

Get the old lady to hang onto the flywheel with a flywheel turner and you torque away. Worked for me.

Re: Fluidampr install

You don't have to take the fan all the way off. If you just take is loose you can get in there to remove the bolts.

P.S. Don't forget to take the big thick washer out once you remove the large bolt in the middle of the old balancer. Don't ask....

Re: Fluidampr install

The LPOP is ony 4 bolts if you already have the damper off. Takes about another 5 minuets to RnR the LPOP.
